This stretch of Magazine Street is home to some of the city’s most beloved restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shopping, with the Convention Center, French Quarter, Coliseum Square, museums, and art galleries mere blocks away.

In collaboration with Logan Killen Interiors and Dear Valentine, designer Katherine Moses crafts a romantic retreat dipped in a tropical, playful palette befitting of the Crescent City. The Italianate structure - featuring soaring double galleries, original plasterwork, heart-pine floors, and impressive moldings - is carefully outfitted with modern amenities to create a space where heritage and contemporary comfort meet in joyful harmony.

Located at 1746 Prytania Street, Luna is the keystone of The Muses Collection. A beautifully preserved example of 19th-century Italianate architecture in New Orleans’ Lower Garden District, the two-story masonry home features a classic side-hall layout, deep double galleries, and original details throughout. Built circa 1870, it has been thoughtfully restored as a refined, design-forward residence that honors its historic character.

Luna’s dining space is nestled within the kitchen, offering a flexible setup that suits both casual and curated moments. Perfect for a relaxed breakfast or working over coffee, the space can also expand—with additional onsite tables and chairs—into a chef’s table setting for up to 14 guests.

Luna’s front parlor blends comfort and character with a decorative fireplace, a chess table, and artwork by local artist Mary Ball. A flatscreen TV adds modern convenience, while hidden pocket doors provide a graceful flow to the kitchen and dining area—allowing the space to feel both connected and distinct.

The chef’s kitchen features custom cabinetry by Toulouse St. Millworks, polished marble countertops, high-end Italian appliances, and a curated collection of Heath Ceramics servingware.

Every guest room at Luna is a sanctuary of refined comfort. Thoughtfully designed with ensuite bathrooms featuring the finest materials and fixtures, each space is adorned with 100% cotton linens, custom Dear Valentine x Lehka robes and stocked with Sangre de Fruta’s luxurious and non-toxic botanical toiletries.

Just off the kitchen, Luna’s wet bar is designed for effortless entertaining—stocked with elegant glassware and tucked neatly into a custom-built nook, it’s the perfect spot for mixing a cocktail or pouring a glass of wine before heading out to the courtyard.

Luna preserves its 19th-century charm with a classic side hall entrance and gracefully original staircase—hallmarks of its heritage. These original architectural details anchor the home in its historic roots, offering a timeless sense of arrival and quiet elegance throughout.

Luna’s kitchen is outfitted with high-end Bertazzoni appliances, including a powerful gas range and sleek French door fridge-freezer. A commercial-grade range hood, garbage disposal, and a fully stocked Nespresso coffee and espresso station add both function and ease, along with a microwave and toaster for everyday convenience.

Luna’s front-facing balcony—known in New Orleans as a gallery—overlooks picturesque Prytania Street and is accessible directly from the Prytania King room. Framed by original columns and ironwork, it’s an ideal perch for morning coffee or an evening cocktail, offering a quiet view of the Lower Garden District’s tree-lined charm.

Luna features several original fireplaces throughout the home—once functional and used as the primary source of heat, now sealed and preserved as decorative elements. These mantels and surrounds, rich with historic character, offer a quiet reminder of the home's 19th-century roots.

Luna’s interiors are layered with designer finishes, including a historically inspired color palette and detailed tile patterns by Logan Killen Interiors, and custom millwork by Toulouse St. Millworks throughout.

Luna’s private courtyard, paved in Pennsylvania bluestone, offers a lush retreat with a serene plunge pool and comfortable daybeds for lounging. Lined by the Courtyard King Rooms, it creates a seamless indoor-outdoor experience for guests. An adjacent paved courtyard is also available to rent for gatherings and events.
